Do you know how much your local government invests in the arts? Would you commit to advocating for an increase in that cultural investment for arts, culture, and heritage in your community, within the capacity of your elected body?

Governments consistently under-invest in the arts as a means of stimulating the economy because it makes them unpopular. We will definitely advocating for an increase in that cultural investment for arts, culture & heritage in our community. This is one for our major policy & it is one of our platform which is very close to our team & it is on our Proudly Surrey Website from the day one

Advocacy

If elected, will you take an active role on behalf of your local government in championing the growth of arts, culture and heritage in your community? Why?

Again definitely , We will take an active role on behalf our local government in championing the growth of arts , culture & heritage in our community . The arts do not just make us more inquisitive, fulfilled and connected; Arts is the most effective means of creating family-supporting jobs, dollar for dollar.

Education

Students with an education rich in the arts have better grade point averages and are three times more likely to get a degree. Will you commit to making the arts a critical component of every child’s education? If so, how?

We are definitely committed to do the advocacy for making the arts a critical component of every child's education because this one of our major policy

Cultural Growth

How will your local government maintain or grow its investment in cultural programs in your community?

We will create a Bear Creek Arts Strip along 88th Avenue and King George Boulevard, anchored by a renewed Surrey Arts Center. This will include the construction of new municipal buildings for restaurant, gallery and studio space on public land on the north and south sides of 88th between King George and Lauder Drive

Cultural Spaces

Will you work to ensure access to affordable, sustainable cultural spaces for artists and arts organizations? If so, how?

We will establish a property tax discount system for short-term gallery rentals, reducing property taxes on commercial spaces that grant short-term (1-3 month) leases to artists and galleries

Cultural Tourism

How do you propose to improve cultural tourism in your community?

We will increase the budget of Surrey Arts Center to fund local dramatic and musical production, phasing out the Arts Club contract We will increase the budget of Surrey Art Gallery to fund better gallery shows with greater emphasis on local and aboriginal production

How do you propose to attract or retain artists and cultural workers in your community?

We will create a Bear Creek Arts Strip along 88th Avenue and King George Boulevard, anchored by a renewed Surrey Arts Center. This will include the construction of new municipal buildings for restaurant, gallery and studio space on public land on the north and south sides of 88th between King George and Lauder Drive.We will re-zone the private residences between Lauder and King George to permit incremental conversion to commercial and mixed-use space

Governments consistently under-invest in the arts as a means of stimulating the economy because it makes them unpopular. Proudly Surrey will invest in the arts sector like no previous civic administration, changing how we work with urban space to make the arts an economic engine of our city.

Participation

How do you personally engage in the cultural life of the community? (e.g. involvement on committees, attending arts and culture events, etc.)

I will engage myself in the cultural life of the community from the schools. We will brings arts that children will create in schools to the arts galleries & put the events for the community so that they can come to those centers & appreciates the children art work
