Do you know how much your local government invests in the arts? Would you commit to advocating for an increase in that cultural investment for arts, culture, and heritage in your community, within the capacity of your elected body?

I do not know how much the city of Vancouver invests in this area, however I am all for increasing this investment as arts, culture and heritage are vital to a healthy, happy and productive society.

If elected, will you take an active role on behalf of your local government in championing the growth of arts, culture and heritage in your community? Why?

Yes, as stated above I believe it is vital, especially as it brings communities together and allows people to understand and learn from each other. I was a dancer and had the privilege to dance at many, many venues and events throughout the city (all cultural and charity) so understand the value of this first hand.

Students with an education rich in the arts have better grade point averages and are three times more likely to get a degree. Will you commit to making the arts a critical component of every child’s education? If so, how?

Absolutely, advocating for this to be part of the curriculum and creating opportunities for growth in this area. Ie: more festivals, events where youth can participate and get educational credits for this.

Cultural Growth

How will your local government maintain or grow its investment in cultural programs in your community?

Have more festivals, more events, make booking public spaces for these events more streamlined and easier

Cultural Spaces

Will you work to ensure access to affordable, sustainable cultural spaces for artists and arts organizations? If so, how?

Yes there are so many places in the community that are under utilized, open up these spaces for artists and arts organizations - encourage more involvement by having these available free or at minimal costs,

Key Issues

What do you feel is the single most important issue relating to arts, culture, and heritage in your community, and what action will you take to address it?

That this area is not supported or encouraged enough. Increase funding, programs, initiatives, and festivals.

How do you personally engage in the cultural life of the community? (e.g. involvement on committees, attending arts and culture events, etc.)

I have been a part of committees and was involved in the dance community in the past and hope to take part again very soon. I attend most festivals and events in the city (ticketed and free) and take my family and friends to them as well. I support local artists by promoting and attending events.
