Do you know how much your local government invests in the arts? Would you commit to advocating for an increase in that cultural investment for arts, culture, and heritage in your community, within the capacity of your elected body?
$11 million for arts between the City Hall & Parks Board and yes, I would like to see a little more.
If elected, will you take an active role on behalf of your local government in championing the growth of arts, culture and heritage in your community? Why?
Absolutely. Otherwise, life is just go to work, pay the bills and do it all over again the next day. I would like to see a better design for the new Art Gallery and an actual Vancouver Museum that describes the last 150 years of history, as well as the time before and has a children's section that allows kids to play and discover in an age appropriate way. (Science World for Art/history).
Students with an education rich in the arts have better grade point averages and are three times more likely to get a degree. Will you commit to making the arts a critical component of every child’s education? If so, how?
Work with the school board to ensure each school has the support to offer music, art, creative writing and similar courses.
How will your local government maintain or grow its investment in cultural programs in your community?
Work closely with the Federal, Provincial governments, as well as non-profit groups that support art. Work with all the various communities to make a wish list of what they would like. Add Octoberfest and other cultural events to city hall and celebrate this in the Gardens in front.
Will you work to ensure access to affordable, sustainable cultural spaces for artists and arts organizations? If so, how?
My priorities are affordable housing, but once I got that figured out, will use similar strategies to ensure there are enough places to accommodate artists and their organizations.
How do you propose to improve cultural tourism in your community?
Again, work with specialists who have done this and see what we can do to grow this area.
How do you propose to attract or retain artists and cultural workers in your community?
If you support local musicians, you can apply for grants.
What do you feel is the single most important issue relating to arts, culture, and heritage in your community, and what action will you take to address it?
Everything is way too expensive!
How do you personally engage in the cultural life of the community? (e.g. involvement on committees, attending arts and culture events, etc.)
My blog, Westcoast German News and my magazine "Das Schwarze Brett" promotes art and culture for those in the Swiss, Austrian & German Communities, and other Canadian backgrounds. I have translated information about ballet performances for Coastal Ballet. I have volunteered for the European Festival and promoted their events. I manage a few Facebook Pages that help promotes event. I build web pages. I have a background in event planning and public relations. I have organized lantern festivals, multicultural fairs, dances, musical events and helped promote musicians, like Richard Theiss with the S-Bahn Band etc. I also help promote the Vancouver Christmas Market and have done voice-overs for TV Shows.

I would like to offer public space for those who plan an event from their country that the public would enjoy attending.
